Gaslighting and establishing false hopes in characters is the hallmark of a green hag, raising them up only to gleefully watch them fall and turn to despair. Tricky and manipulative, the Green Hag will often appear in person under an illusion to sow strife, pitting adventurers against one another. A storybook villain that works in the shadows to create grief for villagers and travelers alike. To me, the Green Hag reminds me of the classic D&D games I used to play. Noah Holmes compares Velma to past Dungeons & Dragons villains, saying: She revels in cruelty for its own sake, which makes her a great villain and mastermind for the coven of the Odious Court." While all the Hags are twisted and malevolent in different ways, Velma is downright pure evil. While building the 20th Module, many of the developers came to have a favorite Hag they personally enjoyed working on.
